Should I kick my drummer out my band?

he can't play to a click track honestly...im a guitarist and i reckon im probably better than him...the only problem is that we went to primary school together and we have been together as a band for nearly 5 years. My lead guitarist, bassist and myself have progressed so far...but the drummer really isn't up to standard... WHAT DO I DO!!!

he sounds alright...but its all edited...Should I kick my drummer out my band?
tell him to practise more. you don't have to kick him out. if you all get along well, DON'T KICK HIM OUT. he can only get better. there was this guy in my school who sucked so much but now after a few months he's not that bad. so what i'm basically saying is that he can only get better. give him some time. for how long has he been drumming? be supportive if you really want him to stay in your band.

but you also have to know when your being TOO nice to the point that he's holding back the whole band's progress.

i hope everything works out fine
as a drummer, if i sucked and made the band sound awful, i would want to know even if i was really good friends with someone. with out an awesome drummer, you're pretty much screwed. you should suggest that he takes lessons or that at least he should buy a how to book and teach himself. he should practice more. he does sound really bad.Should I kick my drummer out my band?
I used to play the drums in a band for 7 years. I don't know where you live, but if it's a large area, put an ad in the paper that you're looking for a drummer. Shop and compare. Don't can your current drummer till you find a replacement.
Before you decide to kick him out, address the problem with him. Tell him that he really needs to put more effort in. Talk with the rest of the band about it and give him a certain amount of time to improve.

good luckShould I kick my drummer out my band?
Give him a trial period to improve his skills (say round three months), or make him take drumming lessons. If after a certain time, he shows no improvement, throw him out of the band and shop for a more sound replacement.
well the guitarists kick sick *** - you guys are awesome! sadly though you're right - your drummer is kinda pulling you guys down - he's not great - or good really - try to tell him nicely though - 5 years is a long time - good luck :)
i admit, u guys sound awesome. but youre right. the drummer keeps losing the beat here and there. id give him a few more weeks, and if he doesnt progress soon, kick him out.
Why not try bringing to his attention that he is not improving and see if he will start practicing. If not maybe he doesn't even want to be in the band.
start another band with a different drummer
start looking for a new drummer, unless you know he can improve. it sounds like this guy could be holding you back.
No don't kick him out. Just Drum him out
Tricky one. the most diplomatic thing to do would be to find him another role in the band.
He sucks.

Drop him.
tell him to get serious or get out
Here's a little anecdote for ya:

I remember when i was in middle school, my next door neighbor and i played music together, him playing guitar and me on the drumset. He kept saying how i wasn't any good because i couldn't keep a rhythm. Then a couple years later he came back over to play music with me and my friends, and i blew him away on the set. His jaw dropped at how much better i had gotten on the set after not playing with him for 2 or 3 years.

in short, if your friend is trying hard to become proficient at the drums, then give him some time. If he's just in the band though for the sake of old friends, then you might wanna start looking for a new drummer.
