This new song, I am curious what is behind its meaning and what does it mean your no God to me? Thank you and please give reason behind all your thoughtsAbout Killswitch engage new single the reckoning?
I am a christian also. My theory and hope is that they are talking about the Antichrist or something like that, for a few reasons: 1. "no MAN can be your deity" I doubt they would refer to God as human 2. Almost all the members either are christian or were brought up in a christian home, so i doubt they would be saying that they don't believe in him. 3. "You will be judged and you will be found mortal" uhhhh how are you going to judge God and find him mortal. Until I hear a confirmation from one of the band members this is what I am sticking with.
I think he is talking about Obama

About Killswitch engage new single the reckoning?I'm almost positive they are talking about Obama. Once I heard this song i thought that this would be a great anti-obama song and when I heard rumors that the new CD had an anti-obama song, it just fit. I do believe that KSE is a christian band but they may not appear that way at times.

Given that Killswitch use to be a semi-professed "christian band" under lead singer Jesse Leach Killswitch (now under Howard Jones) still engages in moral lyrics but are certainly not considered christian. I believe this song has nothing to do with Christianity either way.

About Killswitch engage new single the reckoning?Who gives a ****? Music is supposed to be ambiguous. Killswitch could very well be talking about someone playing God, or maybe it's a song supporting Atheism. Music is interpreted by the listeners. If you're an Atheist or Christian you can interpret the same song differently. That's the beauty of music. I know a lot of people are tight *** squares who are afraid of differing views and want everything from their books to their music to fall into their standards of thinking. People don't like being challenged. It's ******* pathetic.
If Killswitch came out tomorrow and said, "This song is protesting organized religion." or "This is a song supporting organized religion and is calling out those who defy God" would it really make a difference to you? Doesn't effect me either way. I'm not a religious person by any means, but if the song was based off of Christianity or any other religion it doesn't matter. The song is amazing. The band is amazing. Who cares about anything else?
Howard may be talking about the Anti-Christ here. That is very possible. "You are no God to me" may refer to the Anti-Christ's profession of Deity. "No man can be your Deity" could be a reference to the Anti-Christ's Prophet. It's also possible that it refers to any 'Cult Leaders.' Because of the Band's background, I doubt the last possiblility, that is: they may be talking to the Judeo Christian God.
Given the history of Killswitch, I doubt this song is in regard to God himself. When Howard states, "You are no God to me" I think it's written as "You are no god to me". Referring to someone playing god. Here are the lyrics that have been floating around and that I corrected to carry what I hear from the song itself and what makes sense from the band's context:
You are no god to me
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning
Enjoy this while it lasts
It won't be long before it caves
You've stolen lives and broken dreams
No man can be your deity
You are no god to me
This is a reckoning
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning
Was repentance not enough
Was faith not enough
No man can be your deity
You are no god to me
This is a reckoning
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning
And I will be there
To see you fall
You are no god to me
There is a reckoning
The betrayed, will now see the truth
And the brokenhearted, will finally heal
You will be judged
You will be found wanting
And we'll be there to see you fall
You are no god to me
This is the reckoning
You are nothing to me
This is the reckoning
And I will be there
To see you fall
You are no god to me
There is the reckoning
